Shells and rollers
Appointment
The rollers or shells of the press chamber are rotating elements that compress and compact the source material.
The roller is designed to ensure that the raw material fed into the chamber of the granulator press is pulled between the rotating matrix and the pressing rollers (rollers) and pressed into the radial holes of the matrix, where granules are formed under the influence of high pressure.
The roller shell protects it from wear and damage, and also helps hold the roller in place and provides additional strength to the entire structure.

Characteristic
Roller
The roller (press roller), as well as the matrix, is included in the press set for the production of granulated herbal, mineral and fish feed.
The roller assembly consists of a shell rotating around an eccentric axis (shaft) on two roller bearings, which are pressed into the shell.

- The roller has a large contact area with the material, which allows it to be compacted and heated more efficiently.
- The rollers can operate at higher pressures, resulting in denser and stronger granules.

Roller shell
The roller shell is a ring made of steel.
The outer surface is made with longitudinal slots or uniform cylindrical recesses.
The inner part of the shell is processed for pressing in a shaft with two bearings. Roller shells are manufactured with outer diameters of 180, 190, 195, 220, 310 mm.

- Shell press chambers can operate at lower temperatures, which can reduce energy costs for the pelletizing process.
- Shell press chambers typically have a simpler design and fewer moving parts, making them more reliable and durable.

The principle of operation
- The starting material enters the press chamber through a feeder.
- The rollers begin to rotate and compress the material among themselves.
- The material is compacted and heated as it passes between the rollers.
- The material continues to move along the shell, where it is subjected to additional compression and heating. As a result, the material sinteres or melts to form hard granules.
- The finished granules are removed from the press chamber through a special device.
Advantages
- We supply a wide range of rollers and shells for all brands of granulators: MÜNCH, CPM, Andritz, Buhler, CLM, Van Aarsen, Salmatec, Amandus Kahl, Mechanika Nawrocki, Testmer, ZLSP, Technex, Granteh (GT-500, GT-520), B6 DHA, OGM and others.
- The shells are made of wear-resistant steel 40ХН, 40Х, 30ХН, 30ХГСА, 100Cr6, 20MnCr5. The hardening process ensures maximum service life and uniform wear of the pressing surface.
- To order a shell for individual parameters, you must indicate the required parameters or provide a drawing:
- Granulator model
- Outer diameter
- Overall width
- Working surface width
- Type of tooth cutting
Our company’s design engineers can also develop drawings based on a sample part.
