Setting up your own line or plant for the production of fuel pellets will be beneficial if there is constant access to a sufficient amount of wood waste. The production line includes a stock warehouse, a crushing site, a drying site, a granulation site, a cooling and sieving site, a packaging site and an automated control system for each production process.

Acceptance site

The warehouse for receiving raw materials is equipped with a system that prevents the freezing of the material and the freezing of the pushers to the bottom of the warehouse. From the stocker warehouse, the raw materials are fed to a disc separator, which separates large impurities from the conditioned chips and sawdust.

Crushing area

Necessary equipment: high-efficiency wood shredder, hammer crusher of good quality with a certain capacity. The size of the raw material before loading into the granulator should not exceed 5 mm, so in order to reduce the size to a minimum, the raw material must be passed through a hammer crusher. The size at the outlet is controlled by the holes of the sieves, which can be from 1 mm to 8 mm. Hammer crushers have a wide range of sieves and can be used for almost any raw material, equipped with an energy-saving rotor, a body made of wear-resistant material. Drying area

The wet and crushed raw materials are sent to the drying complex via a scraper conveyor to a drum dryer. A pneumatically displaced hot air stream ensures uniform drying of the product, carried out by convection to a residual humidity of 10%.

For the production of high quality wood fuel pellets, drying is one of the most important parts to pay attention to. Raw materials with high humidity can lead to easy granulation, and materials with low humidity can cause granulation problems.

Granulation area

After air separation, wood flour is fed to a direct screw conveyor into a granulator hopper, in which a mixer is installed to adjust humidity. Next, the dry raw materials enter the pressing and granulation section. After the humidity has been adjusted in the mixer, the raw material enters the granulator press.

Pelletizing is a key process in a pellet production plant. In a granulator press under high pressure and temperature, as a result of compression and friction, thermal energy is generated, softening resins and lignin (they are a natural adhesive material). The raw material is pressed through a special matrix, passing through which the wood dust is glued into granules of cylindrical shape, of a given length and shape - the pelletization process is underway.

Cooling and screening area

Cooling is an important part of the production process of high-quality wood pellets. It is necessary for the curing of finished pellets - they are hot and plastic, easily deformable until completely cooled. A cooler is used to cool the pellets before packaging and storage. Due to the friction that occurs in the granulator matrix, additional heat is generated in the granules. The residence time in the cooler and the diameter of the wood pellets are crucial for determining the size of the cooler.

The sieving system is designed to remove the powder from the granules. After the molding is completed, the fuel is cooled to room temperature; at this time, the lignin hardens, which increases the strength of the granules. Then they are sieved to separate the noncondication and make the material homogeneous. The dropout is recycled.

Packing and storage area

Required equipment: automatic packaging machine.

Packaging is the latest process for the production of pellets from sawdust. At the end of the production process, to ensure ease of use, transportation and attractive appearance, the granules are packaged in plastic bags, so the granules are less susceptible to abrasion during delivery. Sorted products are packaged in bags of 15-20 kg or in big bags of 500-1000 kg.

To place the equipment of the line, warehouses for receiving and storing raw materials, finished products, a packing area of at least 600 sq.m. will be required.
