Extrusion is aimed at improving the nutritional properties of the feedstock, at obtaining processed products with high technological performance. It is based on two processes: mechanical processing, which takes place at all stages of production, and decompression shock, which occurs at the exit of the product from the extruder when the crushed heated mass under high pressure is influenced by low pressure. The extruder is the central link in a complete production line. The feeds processed by the extruder are more economical, easier to digest and completely safe. A distinctive feature of the extruder design from the granulator is the presence of a barrel in which a set screw rotates, moving the feed mixture. When moving through the screw-like channels of the screw, the mixture is processed under pressure up to 30-40 atmospheres and a temperature of about 120 ° C, mixed and fed into the forming device of the extruder.

Raw materials passing through the working area of the extruder acquire unique properties at the molecular level, increasing the strength of protein-carbohydrate bonds, while swelling of the product occurs. In a relatively short period of time for processing raw materials, the protein does not have time to denature, while all vitamins and nutritional properties are preserved in the cake, and bacteria are destroyed. "Protected" protein is well absorbed in the small intestine of cattle. The absence of anti-nutritional substances in extruded feeds reduces the load on the animal's body, minimizing the risk of diseases.
